A grain that is used in cooking as a vegetable or starch, corn comes in ears with seeds called kernels. It ranges in color from white to yellow to multi-color, and varies in flavor from sweet to starchy. Corn can be cooked in whole ears by boiling or roasting, or the kernels can be separated from the cob and cooked in a variety of ways. Corn is used to produce many food ingredients, such as corn flour, cornmeal, corn oil, cornstarch, corn syrup, etc., as well as in a multitude of industrial applications.

A type of prosciutto (Italian ham) from the province of Parma, this is salt cured and air dried but not smoked. The meat is firm and dense, and is usually thinly sliced and served raw as an appetizer.
